This is when your PCM will give you a referral. Having a referral can reduce your out-of-pocket expenses. Referrals can also help reduce the time you need to wait to get specialty care.

If it’s been a while, it’s extremely important to take time and log in to DEERS to review or update your information. DEERS is key to managing military health benefits, supporting the needs of service members, retirees, and their family members. You should make sure to update your information in DEERS so your family can get the benefits they deserve.

Army nursing cadets are gaining hands-on clinical experience at Winn Army Community Hospital through the Army Nurse Summer Training Program, working alongside Army healthcare professionals to prepare for future service while supporting the Army’s mission of sustaining a medically ready force. The annual program places Army nursing students in military treatment facilities where they train alongside experienced Army healthcare professionals. At Winn, cadets care for active-duty Soldiers, Family members, and retirees while developing the clinical and leadership skills required of Army nurses. The hands-on experience bridges classroom instruction with military patient care, preparing the next generation of Army medical professionals.

Leadership of U.S. Army Medical Department Activity–Fort Stewart officially transitioned July 8 as Col. Margaret Berryman relinquished command of Winn Army Community Hospital to Col. Alex Montgomery during a change of command ceremony at Cashe Garden. Brig. Gen. James “Jamie” Burk, commanding general of U.S. Army Medical Readiness Command, East, presided over the ceremony, where the passing of the organization’s colors symbolized the formal transfer of authority and responsibility.

Leaders from Winn Army Community Hospital, behavioral therapists and Humana TRICARE representatives joined forces March 31 to improve access to care for military families coping with autism. The 23 Applied Behavior Analysis professionals who attended were from network mental health care providers across coastal Georgia. Gathered with them in Winn’s Patriot Auditorium were the hospital’s primary care, pediatric, mental health and Exceptional Family Member Program leads.

A crucial node of patient care for Spartan Soldiers is once again open for business at Marne Medic Troop Medical Clinic on Fort Stewart. Leaders and Soldiers from 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team and Winn Army Community Hospital gathered April 2 to cut the ribbon at the clinic’s pharmacy. It is the first time in three years the pharmacy has been in operation.
