Mental (Behavioral) Health

Everyone reacts to stress and traumatic experiences differently. While some have reactions that can be seen as normal responses to life events, others may experience signs or symptoms of more serious conditions.

Mental health and substance use conditions can affect anyone; you are not alone. The Military Health System has many resources available to help those who need it.

If you or someone you know needs support now, call 988 or text 583-8255 or chat at 988Lifeline.org. 988 connects you with a trained crisis counselor who can help.

Targeted Care

Our embedded behavioral health clinics offer targeted care. Targeted care helps us give you the right mental health support for your specific needs, whether it’s an individual appointment, group therapy or non-clinical support.

How it Works

You can call your primary care clinic to make an appointment or simply walk in for a preliminary assessment with a technician. Targeted care synchronizes and expands the resources we have to address your specific needs. The process begins with a preliminary assessment.

You’ll meet with a behavioral health technician who will:
  • Listen to your concerns.
  • Assess your needs.
  • Match you to the best resource.
Options may include an appointment with:
  • A primary care behavioral health consultant.
  • A specialty care behavioral health group or counselor
  • Military and family life counselors.
  • A chaplain.
You don’t need a referral, and you won’t be turned away or denied specialty care. Learn more about Targeted Care.

Our Services

Our facility offers the following services:

  • Embedded Behavioral Health

For Active Duty, each Embedded Behavioral Health (EBH) clinic is near an assigned Brigade and provides behavioral health treatment to assigned Soldiers to improve access to and continuity of behavioral health care. The EBH model is an early intervention and evidence-based treatment model that promotes Soldier readiness through identification of trends, working closely with leaders to mitigate high risk behaviors, and report safety status of Soldiers.

Substance Use Disorder Services

Our facility offers the following substance use services:

  • Substance Abuse assessments
  • Substance abuse individual treatments
  • Substance abuse treatment groups

Substance use services are integrated with behavioral health to address co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders to enhance access to care, improve outcomes for Soldiers and Family members.

For Active Duty, access to Substance Abuse services is through your unit aligned Embedded Behavioral Health clinic. You can walk into your EBH clinic or be referred by your primary care clinic. Earlier detection and intervention improves outcome with improves readiness of the force.
