About:

Winn Army Community Hospital’s Nutrition Care Clinic offers a variety of nutritional services to promote medical readiness and improved healthcare for Active duty and their family members. The Nutrition Care Clinic has multiple Registered Dietitians on staff to provide evidenced based Medical Nutrition Therapy.

Services Provided:

Individual Appointments

We offer a large variety of nutrition counseling for general healthful eating and a variety of health conditions including but not limited to:
  • Weight management
  • Diabetes/Prediabetes
  • Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
  • Hyperlipidemia (High Cholesterol)
  • Renal (Kidney Disease) Nutrition
  • Performance Nutrition
  • Pregnancy Nutrition
Virtual Appointments
Virtual appointments are available to provide convenient and secure, real-time access to care from anywhere.

Group Classes Offered:
Pre-Diabetes Nutrition Class: A class for individuals with Pre-Diabetes to discuss general healthful eating habits and lifestyle choices that can help delay and/or prevent onset of Type 2 Diabetes. Classes occur at 1330 at the Nutrition Care Clinic on the second Wednesday of every month.
 
Diabetes Survival Nutrition Class: A class for individuals with Type 2 Diabetes to discuss foods and other external factors that can affect blood sugar. This class will discuss what dietary interventions may be needed to aid in controlling blood sugar. Classes occur at 1330 at the Nutrition Care Clinic on the third Wednesday of every month.
 
Gestational Diabetes Nutrition Class: A class for expectant mothers with Gestational Diabetes to learn how to manage Gestational Diabetes through nutrition and lifestyle choices. Classes occur at 1330 at the Nutrition Care Clinic on the first Wednesday of every month.
 
Heart Healthy Nutrition Classes: A class for patients who have elevated cholesterol levels or blood pressure looking to learn about healthy lifestyle and nutrition choices. Classes occur every 1st Monday of the month at 1330.
 
Pregnancy Nutrition Classes: A class for expecting mothers and their partners who are not able to participate in OB Centering or are interested in more detailed information on best pregnancy nutrition practices for a balanced diet, weight changes, food safety, and other prenatal-specific nutrition considerations. Classes occur every 3rd Thursday of the month at 1330.
 
Army Body Composition Program (ABCP) Counseling: An initial nutrition counseling for Active Duty Service Members enrolled in the ABCP to support application of the Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) pillars for weight management. Initial nutrition counseling memorandum provided in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 600-9. Classes occur every Wednesday at 1000.
 
Lifestyle Enhancement Training for Holistic Healthy Living (LETH2L) Classes: A three-class series Military Treatment Facility (MTF)-directed option to support compliance with AR 600-9 for Active Duty Service Members enrolled in ABCP. Classes are based on the Human Performance Resources by CHAMP Get Into Fighting Weight: A Total Force Fitness Guide and are aimed to promote sustainable, healthy weight loss for active duty services members via positive sleep, activity, and nutrition behaviors. Classes occur weekly and are only available after completion of ABCP Counseling.
 
Who can be seen here?
​All Tricare recipients to include: Active Duty, Retirees, and Family Members of all ages. Appointments are self-referral except for the Medication-Assisted Weight Loss Class
Referral Process
Most individual and group appointments at the Nutrition Care Clinic do not Require a referral from the patient’s primary care provider: Only the following class requires a referral.
