How it works
TRICARE covers the following types of birth control if a TRICARE-Authorized provider prescribes them. Some types of birth control requires pre-authorization. Check with your regional contractor for more information.
What isn't covered
Our medical facilities don't offer vasectomy counseling.
Generally, TRICARE doesn’t cover assisted reproductive services or noncoital reproductive technologies. TRICARE may cover these services for wounded, ill, or injured service members. Covered assisted reproductive services include:
- Artificial insemination (including cost related to donors and semen banks).
- Invitro fertilization (IVF).
- Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT), in most cases.
